Liz ManeySunday night, I was lucky enough to be entranced by a goddess. The otherworldly Chelsea Wolfe graced us with such a magnificent set that left my friend and I speechless.
On stage she has so much grace and poise, moving calmly and quietly between songs. Every so often you could catch a smile from her as she looked out over the crowd. The sounds that she and her band create together are powerful and explosive — the volume alone sending waves through my body, vibrating my every fiber.
I was even more ecstatic when she played a gorgeous rendition of her song “Halfsleeper” (which is my favorite of hers). The rest of her band left the stage and she sang on alone and unwavering — a beautiful vision haloed by red stage lights.
I was a bit emotional when leaving the venue last night — deeply moved by a magical being.
