You know that when you’re almost crushed in the pit at a show that it has been a good night. Last night the radiant beings of Sunflower Bean returned to their home base of Brooklyn to play a wild, sold-out show at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Nick Kivlen on guitar and vocals, Jacob Faber on drums, and Julia Cumming on bass and vocals make up this badass trio — and they rock so hard; all while garbed in stylish 70’s attire with attitude. I love their blend of grungy psychedelic, complete with wailing guitar breaks and a solid bass groove. Their crowd was ravenous — screaming and thrashing as Julia slipped into the crowd during the set. Nick even threw his guitar sending everyone into a frenzy as it crowd surfed through the room. It was great having you come home, Sunflower Bean! Check out their album ‘Human Ceremony’ and be sure to catch one of their upcoming shows.
