Last night kicked off a new, six-part showcase series hosted by MATTE Projects at the National Sawdust in Williamsburg. Upon entering the futuristic venue, we were met by the multitalented Kissey set up as our DJ. She spun throughout the night and between sets, guiding our groove as we mingled.

Oyinda took center stage for her debut performance, starting off in a hooded cloak along with her haunting vocals. She instantly captivated the crowd with her magic and with each song, her presence grew greater. Ever so charming, talented, and stunning, Oyinda is someone who you should be listening to. Her song “The Devil’s Gonna Keep Me” is still in my head, and that’s a great thing.

Dream Koala ended the night with an otherworldly performance, as if some great deity from above, surrounding us with his spiritualistic vocals and dreamy soundscapes. He fully embodied his music, meditating on his craft with wondrous results. Closing his set with his song “Odyssey” gave us the perfect send off as we headed into the cold night air.

A successful first showcase with absolutely incredible talent. I am looking forward to the next one!
